Karl Rove has just been subpoenaed by the House Judiciary Committee to testify on June July 10. I just heard it on MSNBC. Will have a link to a story as soon as I can find one.
Political cartooning, like most creative fields, is dominated by artists from the liberal side of the political spectrum. However, there do exist exceptions that prove the rule: from small towns to big cities, in the pages of magazines and newspapers, that rare creature — the right-wing political cartoonist — lurks among us. What follows is the second (click here for the first) in a weekly series chronicling the latest in right-wing cartoon hackery, for your Saturday-morning-coffee-time enjoyment.
This week, we tackle the scribblings of Michael Ramirez, Chuck Asay (his 2nd appearance), Ken Catalino, Henry Payne (also his 2nd appearance), and Glenn McCoy (also his 2nd appearance).
The all-important Bolivia Texas and Ohio primaries are approaching fast, and the Clinton campaign is not going to go down without a fight. Looks like they're definitely going to go down, though. They're just about out of money and they'll soon be out of time. I just hope they don't bring the party down with them.
(Click to enlarge) Much has been made in the media and on The Internets about the photo of Barack Obama wearing traditional Somalian garb while travelling in Africa a few years ago. Rumors abound about who first publicized it and why, but lately signs seem to be pointing in the direction of the Clinton campaign, who are basically saying, "even if it was us, which it totally wasn't, what's the big deal?"
The big deal is that the picture is being used to feed the disgusting Obama-as-Muslim-Manchurian-Candidate meme. Thankfully, it seems like the effort has backfired.
It seems like the more shit the Clinton campaign throws at Obama, the less it sticks to him. Indeed, most of her attempts have backfired and ended up damaging her campaign. It increasingly looks like Obama is, in fact, rubber; and Clinton, glue.
Less than three weeks have passed since John McCain all but clinched the Republican nomination for president, and already the motherofallshitstorms is descending on his campaign. The burgeoning sex/corruption/campaign finance scandal has fueled a media feeding frenzy that threatens to push the endless talk about superdelegates and phoney-baloney plagiarism charges to the margins of the nation's political consciousness.
I can't wait to see what the head-to-head polls against McCain look like in the coming weeks.

Fidel Castro, who has long been a walking, talking anachronism, is stepping down after nearly 50 years. Laughably couching his announcement in the language of democracy, he vowed that "would not accept another 5-year term as president." I guess 10 consecutive 5-year terms was enough, eh?
As you may have heard, six detainees at Gitmo were finally charged for the 9/11 attacks. As you also may have heard, they’re being tried by "military commission," a rigged Soviet-style show trial, just in time for the 2008 elections.
I haven't written a diary here in quite a while, so bear with me. I've been poring over polling data and watching the caucus coverage all day, and I've constructed a scenario that I firmly believe will come to pass: Barack Obama will win the Democratic nomination for president, and I know how it will happen. Let me step you through my scenario, below the fold.
The Michigan State University chapter of the Young Americans for Freedom will be listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center on its annual list of hate groups next month. The investigation began last year following the group's much-publicized attempts to stage a "Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day" event and an anti-gay rally featuring signs reading "Straight Power" and "End Faggotry."
I was compelled to write this after reading this diary by The American Prophet. The diary -- which as of this writing boasts nearly 700 comments despite the handicap of appearing on the Recommended Diaries list on Thanksgiving morning -- is the latest in a series of increasingly shrill diaries in the great debate over whether or not to punish the Bush administration for the damage it has done to this country and the world at large. I for one advocate punishment, in the form of investigations that, let's not kid ourselves, would inevitably lead to broad support and justification for impeachment.
